Exporting an EPS from Illustrator This document contains instructions on how to export a EPS file from Adobe Illustrator. Illustrator has a save feature that makes creating EPS files very easy. Step 1 - Open the Illustrator document you wish to create an EPS from. Once the file is fully prepared and samples have been printed, select the File menu and locate the Save button. Step 2 - Selecting the Save button will open a new window that offers save options. In this window you will need to select the destination of your file and the file type. At the bottom of the window you will see a drop down labeled Save as Type -- make sure that is set to EPS. Once your file name, destination, and file type are set, click Save. Step 3 - After you click Save, you will be given another window with save options. The only setting that needs to be changed from the standard Illustrator defaults is the Preview option. In the middle of the window you will see the Preview options -- find the Format drop down and change it to TIFF 8-bit Color. Once changed, click the Save button at the top of the window and your EPS file will be finished and ready to send to BCT.
