Exporting a PDF from InDesign
|
This document contains instructions on how to export a PDF file from Adobe InDesign. InDesign has an export feature that makes creating PDF files very easy.
-
Step 1 -
Open the InDesign document you wish to create a PDF from. Once the file is fully prepared and samples have been printed, select the File menu and locate the export button.

-
Step 2 -
Selecting the export button will open a new window that offers export options. In this window you will need to select the destination of your file and the file type. At the bottom of the window you will see a dropdown labeled Save as Type -- make sure that is set to PDF. Once your file name, destination, and file type are set, click Save.

-
Step 3 -
After you click Save, you will be given another window with export options. There are only two settings that need to be changed from the standard InDesign defaults. At the top of the window you will see a drop down called Style -- change that to Print. Second, you will see the Advanced tab at the left of the window in the white box -- click it and find the Transparency Flattener options. In the Transparency Flattener options, change the Style drop down to High Resolution. Finally, click the Export button at the bottom of the window and your PDF will be finished and ready to send to BCT.
